Issues in English 2 is tailored for adult learners (ages 12 +). The program is based around eight topical issues of high interest to adults (fame, sport, media, technology, wilderness, Education, Languages and Immigration), which will keep learners motivated. This is a highly integrated program where the vocabulary and concepts are used in many different ways and contexts. Students will learn communication skills for daily life.
The package is suited to home learners, self-access computer labs and as a flexible teaching tool in mixed-ability classes.
The program builds on the learner’s existing knowledge of English, whilst encouraging them to expand their skills with a huge range of activities. In each activity, there is a Learn mode where the learner will get help, encouragement and feedback. After three mistakes, the student will be shown the correct answer or given a hint. In Learn mode, worksheets and teacher’s answer sheets may be printed. In Test mode, the learner’s results may be printed with the correct answer and the learner’s submitted answer.
Students will learn a comprehensive set of skills, such as Listening, Reading, Writing, Vocabulary, Spelling, Grammar, Pronunciation and Giving Opinions – all things which will help to communicate effectively in the real world!
In addition, there is an integrated, comprehensive Teacher Tracking Module. Teachers can choose to have learners log in, and then track each individual or class activity, times, scores, etc. Even without tracking turned on, the Tracking Module will keep a record of total usage of the program.
