In Results Manager, the function to disable exercises for students is called - hidden content. Hidden Content is group-specific. When teachers log into Results Manager, they only see their own group(s) of students and change the content the students can access. So two different teachers can set up profiles of content that are very different for their students without any clash. Administrators can see all groups in their institution.

If you click on a student (or indeed a teacher) on the right of the screen, rather than a group, the checkmarks all disappear because you can't set hidden content for a single student, only for a whole group.

There is one administrator account in Results Manager, the name and password of which were sent to you in your welcome email. To change the password for this account, start Results Manager with this name and password. Right-click on the administrator account. Choose Details, change the password and click Update. This will let you change the password for this account. To change any teacher or learner account, you must also log in as the administrator. Then you can click on the teacher / student name in the list on the right. Choose Details, change the password and click Update. A teacher account cannot change any passwords; it needs to be an administrator account.

With a Learner Tracking licence there is a maximum number of teacher accounts that you can add. Normally we set this number to be 1/10 of the number of learner accounts allowed in the licence. For example, a 50-user licence lets you to create up to five teacher accounts.

This applies to the International and Indian English versions of Business Writing. The index of all exercises has a mistake that stops Results Manager from correctly reading the name of the exercise.

Fix: Download the following ZIP file and extract it to your main Clarity folder (usually C:\Clarity). This will save a new version of the index file to C:\Clarity\Content\BusinessWriting\Courses\InternationalEng\menu.xml. Even if you have been using the program for a while, none of your records will be lost and they will all display correctly after this fix.

Solution:
A new configuration file which has all the new programs linked to Result Manager can solve the problem. Download this file. There is a file called location.ini inside which should replace the current location.ini located in the ResultsManager folder.

It's Your Job has a different program structure and cannot work with the current Results Manager network version.

Note: If the original location.ini has been customized, compare it with the new location.ini and make corresponding changes before replacing it.

If this does not help, please contact In Author Plus, you have an export feature that creates a ZIP file with all the content of your course that you can download to your computer. We encourage you to do this often to minimise the risk of losing work - whether Author Plus is running from Clarity's servers or your own.

Our server backs up your content every day (if it changes) and we will be very happy to create a ZIP file for you so that you have your own copy. Please send your request for this to support@clarityenglish.com.

Start Results Manager and click on Login options button on the left side of the screen. Then choose to Allow unregistered learners to use the program. Click Update. Your learners will now see a New User button on the login screen which they can click on once they have typed their name (or ID) and password. Once you have finished this period of self-registration, you can use Results Manager to disable this unregistered learners option. Now your learner will only see a Login button and cannot create new names.

If you are using Results Manager V3:
Start Results Manager and click on the Control Centre tab at top left. Under Learner access control, choose Yes for the question “Are unregistered learners allowed to use the program?”. Finally, click Update login options.
